SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act) 法案是好萊塢遊說美國國會建立更嚴格的反盜版法, 由眾議員史密思(Lamar Smith)提出的。
此法案若通過, 網站上只要有用戶從事盜版行為(包括違法提供檔案下載、散播盜版影片等), 政府有權直接封鎖整個網站。
許多大廠(包含軟體大廠)、組織、媒體都站出來反 SOPA
Adobe, Apple, Autodesk, AVG, CA, Compuware, Corel, Dell, Google, Facebook,
Intel, Kaspersky, McAfee, Microsoft, Twitter, Zynga
PHP, Wikipedia, Wordpress,
New York Times, LA Times
主要原因是為了捍衛網路自由及隱私權
